We are currently recruiting for a Washroom Operative for our client, based in Livingston. This will be on an initial temp to perm basis. Role Overview The Washroom Operative is responsible for the safe handling, cleaning, decontamination, and processing of firefighting protective clothing and related PPE. This role is critical in ensuring garments are returned to service meeting safety, hygiene, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Receive, sort, and identify incoming firefighting garments and PPE. Follow strict decontamination and washing procedures in line with company and industry standards. Operate industrial washing, drying, and finishing equipment safely and efficiently. Inspect garments for visible damage, contamination, or wear and report findings. Adhere to health & safety procedures, including correct use of PPE. Maintain accurate processing records and tagging systems. Ensure work areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with hygiene standards. Assist with loading, unloading, and storage of garments. Support stock control of detergents, chemicals, and consumables. Work collaboratively with inspection and repair teams to ensure smooth workflow. Skills & Experience Essential: Good attention to detail. Ability to follow strict procedures and safety protocols. Physically fit and able to lift and move loads safely. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Reliable and punctual. Desirable: Experience in industrial laundry, decontamination, or PPE handling. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments. Personal Attributes Safety-focused mindset. Methodical and organised. Able to work efficiently under time constraints. Professional and responsible attitude. Working Conditions Industrial laundry environment. Exposure to soiled protective clothing (training and PPE provided). Standing for extended periods.
