Wirral | Monday – Friday | Split Shifts: 7:15–8:45am & 3:15–5:45pm | Start: September 2025
New Directions Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school on the Wirral for a Learning Support Assistant to work in their Breakfast and After School Club.
This is a long-term, ongoing role starting at the beginning of September 2025, working five days a week in a split-shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and engage children in a safe and fun environment before and after school
2. Provide activities, games, and creative play opportunities
3. Support with snacks and mealtime routines
4. Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
5. Ensure safeguarding and school policies are followed at all times
Requirements:
6. Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
7. Enthusiasm, reliability, and strong organisational skills
8. Ability to work both morning and afternoon sessions
9. A genuine passion for supporting children’s wellbeing and development

Job Specification
Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.
We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;
10. NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
11. NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
12. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
13. CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
14. BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).
We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
24. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
25. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
26. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
27. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
28. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
