Offer description

We are seeking a kind, calm, and gentle Personal Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a 26-year-old woman with complex care needs

Although she is an adult, she is physically the size of a 9-year-old and displays childlike behaviour, such as playing with toys.

She is non-verbal, wears pads, has limited understanding, and sometimes requires reassurance and emotional support. She can sometimes display challenging behaviour, so someone who is understanding is essential.

She can be physically affectionate when seeking comfort, so it's important that you're comfortable with this.

She has a genetic disorder, epilepsy, and some challenging behaviours. While experience with epilepsy is preferred, full training will be provided. A comprehensive care plan is in place, and her mum will provide support if an epileptic episode occurs.

Your role will involve taking her to The Point day centre, assisting with lunchtime medication, managing her feeding pump and tube, and supporting her with personal care. You will also accompany her on outings such as visits to the zoo or Sea Life Centre (costs covered).

This is a rewarding and hands-on role for someone who is compassionate, patient, and confident in providing one-to-one care.

Duties include:
- Medication prompting/administering
- Personal grooming
- Moving and handling
- Other relevant duties as required
- Transportation
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
- Sometimes when she wants some reassurance, she can look for physical affection like a hug/be physically affectionate, so you'll have to be comfortable with that

Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
