Farm Engineer Telford, Shropshire £45,000 Monday to Friday, 10 hour shifts Machines dont fix themselves. Which is unfortunate, because if they did, this job wouldnt exist. Were looking for a Farm Engineer to keep a busy agricultural operation moving. Youll be maintaining, repairing and generally rescuing a wide range of machinery that has a habit of breaking at exactly the wrong time. This is not a watch the clock and tick boxes role. Its a somethings down, go sort it kind of job. Youll be working across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, diagnosing faults properly and fixing them so they stay fixed. Welding and fabrication will come into play too, along with general hands-on problem solving across site. Theres also telescopic JCB work involved, because nothing in farming ever stays in its lane. What youll be doing Keeping agricultural machinery running reliably and safely Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults MIG and TIG welding and fabrication work Supporting safe use of oxy-fuel equipment and abrasive wheels Operating telescopic JCB equipment when needed Deciding what needs doing first, and getting on with it Making sure everything you touch meets health and safety standards What youll need Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent experience Solid background in agricultural or heavy machinery maintenance Strong fault-finding skills, not guesswork and hope Confident working with hydraulics and pneumatics Welding experience (MIG and TIG) Experience or tickets for telescopic JCB operation Familiarity with oxy-fuel systems and abrasive wheels A practical understanding of health and safety Ability to work independently without being micro-managed Basic MS Office skills for logging and reporting Clear communication and a methodical approach The reality of it If you like variety, hands-on work and solving problems properly, youll be fine here.
