We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our team based in Totnes. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,368 - £40,729 per annum

You will also receive a guaranteed standby allowance, plus additional payments for call out and overtime opportunities. You will also be entitled to a company van and a range of excellent company benefits. You will be required to work a 37 hour week and benefit from 1 in 4 Fridays off.

About the role:

As the Planned Mechanical Craftsperson (Planned Mechanical Maintenance Engineer) you will take ownership of fault finding, repairing and maintaining South West Water assets across a range of Waste Water company sites, treatment works and sewage pumping stations. To help ensure maximum asset availability and support the South West Water Vision by assisting by minimising risk to compliance and preventing pollutions.

You will provide services to a high standard in a sustainable manner that meets the required internal and external customer service levels, whilst minimising risk to compliance and meeting quality requirements.

What you will be doing:

Carry out planned maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship including, but not limited to:

* Monitor, fault find, maintain and repair a wide variety of equipment on Wastewater Treatment sites, including: pumps, gearboxes, and specialist treatment process machinery

* Apply first level maintenance activities to all onsite assets and large plant complex repairs

* Using Breathing Apparatus and working in confined spaces and/or at height if required

* Development of new skills both in and outside of your core discipline such as electrical disconnections.

* Development of new skills such as installing and maintaining mechanical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres.

* Work with other disciplines in a workshop/mobile team.

* An understanding of health and safety and be able to work in a considered manner that keeps you and those around you safe.

* To maintain training and competencies in-line with job requirements including participation in the M+E competency framework

* Providing recommended / detailed specification of parts for ordering of stock replacements and parts needed to undertake repairs.

* Manufacturing and fabrication of parts and equipment.

* Keeping our internal customers updated with activities which may impact on their processes.

* Acting as the duty mechanical craft Person on a standby/call-out rota basis.

What we are looking for:

* A completed Apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline

* A full understanding of related RAMS to deliver an effective and safe maintenance regime

* Experience of working with Waste Water treatment processes would be desirable

* Ability to fault find and repair large complex pieces of mechanical equipment

* A full UK driving license is required

* CompEx 11

* Welding or Fabrication experience
