Interim Risk Solutions Lawyer (Vice President) – 6‑Month Contract
Location: London (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days WFH)
Our client, a leading global financial services institution is seeking an experienced Risk Solutions Lawyer (VP level) for an initial six‑month interim assignment, with strong potential for extension. This role sits within the EMEA Transaction Legal team, supporting a high‑profile front‑office business on sophisticated derivatives and hedging work.
About the Role
You will play a key role in supporting the organisation’s Risk Solutions business on a wide range of hedging and derivatives transactions. The position offers exposure to complex structures, senior stakeholders, and meaningful project work across the legal function.
You’ll work closely with front‑office teams from structuring through execution, applying strong analytical skills and commercial judgement.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with the Risk Solutions business on loan‑linked hedging, deal‑contingent trades, novations, and ancillary documentation including equity commitment letters.
* Work with key documentation such as:
* ISDA Master Agreements
* Intercreditor Agreements
* Facilities Agreements
* Deal Contingent Long Form Confirmations
* Introducer Agreements
* Advise on secured hedging, leveraged finance structures, and FX/interest rate deal‑contingent transactions.
* Review hedging rights/obligations within loan and intercreditor agreements for leveraged finance and infrastructure financing.
* Identify and communicate legal risks to internal stakeholders.
* Manage transactions from structuring through execution, ensuring alignment with the front office.
* Contribute to internal legal projects, engaging with senior management and cross‑regional teams.
About You
* English‑qualified lawyer with strong experience in derivatives and structured transactions gained in a top‑tier law firm or in‑house role.
* Strong product knowledge across derivatives and transactional documentation.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
* Ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple stakeholders.
* A proactive, collaborative, and commercially minded approach.
* Interest in improving processes and contributing to team development.
