We're currently recruiting for a Project Health & Safety Manager in Newton Abbot, South Devon, working on the expansion of HMP Channings Wood.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a project with a scope that includes state-of-the-art construction, such as two new fully electric, energy-efficient T60 houseblocks, along with various ancillary works.

What will you be responsible for?
This role provides Health, Safety, and Wellbeing leadership for our HMP Channings Wood project. The Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager will serve as the point of contact for the project team and liaise with the Kier Construction Western & Wales Construction & Engineering Director & Regional HS&W Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Acting as the main contact for the project team and regional managers regarding HSW issues.
2. Developing and maintaining the project's HSW strategy in line with business and project-specific plans.
3. Cascading regional HSW communications, safety reports, lessons learned, and disseminating information through briefings and meetings.
4. Charing fortnightly HSW meetings, ensuring coordination, communication, and implementation of actions across site teams and supply chain.
5. Conducting Site Safety Inspections and providing advice & guidance, recording using Novade.
6. Reviewing corrective actions from inspections and ensuring timely closure.
7. Advising teams on risk assessments, safe systems of work, and method statements.
8. Updating regional and project directors on HSW issues and incidents.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have:
* NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) — a recognized qualification in occupational health and safety.
* Proven experience in leading construction H&S on major Tier one contracts in a senior management role.
* Strong leadership and communication skills to influence stakeholders and motivate staff and contractors.
* Technical knowledge of H&S legislation, regulations, and best practices.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify hazards and develop solutions.
* Experience in managing HSW aspects of major construction projects.
* Experience with behavioural change programs in H&S.
