Mealtime Assistants Needed – SEN School | Plymouth (Riverside Location)
We are currently working in partnership with a fantastic SEN school based in Plymouth (PL5), who are seeking several Mealtime Assistants to join their dedicated team supporting children in their Primary classes.
Location: Riverside School Site, 210 Poole Park Road, Plymouth, PL5 1DD
Role Type: Part-time (10 hours/week – 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday, term time only)
Salary: Grade B, Point 3 – FTE £24,308 | Actual Salary: £5,502.50 per annum (plus paid additional hours for training & INSET days)
This is a fantastic opportunity for caring, flexible, and proactive individuals who are looking to support children with a range of complex needs, including autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).
While previous experience in an SEN setting is desirable, full training and support is provided — including accredited Safety Interventions training (blended online and in-person).
As a Mealtime Assistant, you will work alongside an experienced class team to:
* Support pupils during lunchtimes in a safe, structured, and engaging environment
* Assist with personal care and mobility as required
* Promote positive behaviour and well-being
* Includes attendance at two compulsory Autumn Term INSET days (Safeguarding and Safety Interventions refreshers), with additional pay for training time
* Ideal for candidates with a background in care, education, or youth support
* A great stepping stone for those looking to gain experience in SEN education
Please note: This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and full safeguarding procedures. In line with Department for Education guidance and safer recruitment practices, a digital screening check will also be carried out via a third-party specialist to assess public online presence.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
