The E&ICA System Specialist encompasses the oversight of two teams Electrical (E) and Industrial Control Automation (ICA). This role specifically focuses on SCADA and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), which entails regulating various elements like electricity, water, sewage and tunnels. Working with multiple stakeholders this individual plays a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth operation and efficient utilisation of resources.
Day-to-day this role evaluates asset performance and implements improvements to support confidence in the system, by fostering team assurance through training initiatives, and collaborating closely with the broader technical team. As a subject matter expert, the role entails ensuring that specific systems and processes are upheld to rigorous standards, in alignment with engineering protocols. This includes leading problem solving and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
1. Management of system-based assets, which involves identifying faults and inefficiencies to propose strategic remedies, ultimately impacting the overall operation.
2. Empower others through training sessions, including colleagues and apprentices, to widen their understanding of the intricate technical aspects of specialist systems.
3. Document maintenance history, recording work orders, spare parts and all significant information, ensuring it is compliant, regulatory and in line with Heathrow standards. Uphold reliability of documentation for your specific asset group, ensuring it is updated.
4. Direct 2nd and 3rd Level Problem Escalations, driving technical troubleshoot efforts to be resolved quickly.
5. Clear Control System background, preferably using Rockwell SLC500 and SLC5000’s.
6. Ability to work effectively across various teams, including operations, solutions, technical, and leadership groups.
7. Attention to detail and awareness of little inaccuracies, which could create a big impact.
8. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a recognised engineering discipline.
Ideally you’ll have:
9. Airport knowledge, or an operational background.
10. Experience in PLC, specifically the ability to read, Interrogate and edit Ladder Logic.
11. Knowledge and experience of MAXIMO, or similar asset management tool(s).
