Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed full‑time Locum Consultant Anaesthetist with a responsibility in Cardiac Anaesthesia and Cardiac Intensive Care to join our Anaesthetic Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The appointee will provide comprehensive elective and emergency anaesthetic services, manage patients admitted under their care, and work with the department to provide reciprocal cover during leave. They will devote substantially the whole of their time to the post, as outlined in the agreed Job Plan.

Job Responsibilities
* Fulfil duties outlined in the agreed Job Plan and provide both elective and emergency anaesthetic services.
* Manage patients admitted under their care and collaborate with Consultant colleagues.
* Participate in reciprocal cover during leave periods and take leave in accordance with Trust policies.
* Contribute to service development and delivery through coherent ideas, delegation and teamwork.
* Engage in clinical audit, teaching and support junior staff effectively.
Person Specification
Professional Registration
* Full GMC registration.
* Recent and current experience as a Senior Cardiac Anaesthetist.
* TOE expertise demonstrated by a current logbook and successful completion of an accreditation exam (BSE/EACVI).
Professional Registration (Desirable)
* Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register.
* Higher professional degree.
* Full TOE accreditation (BSE/EACVI).
Clinical Skills/Experience
* Training and experience meeting all aspects of the job plan, including on‑call work.
* Maintained relevant clinical skills and knowledge.
* Significant postgraduate experience in anaesthesia at a senior NHS level.
* Specific training in cardiac anaesthesia and Advanced Fellowship in Cardiac Anaesthesia.
* Competence in Trans‑oesophageal Echocardiography (TOE) as demonstrated by successful completion of the TOE exam (BSE/EACVI).
Clinical Skills/Experience (Desirable)
* Specific training in communication skills.
* Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors.
Management Skills
* Ability to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery.
* Ability to delegate appropriately.
* Ability to work in a team.
