Clinical Matron

This is a challenging post which will require dynamic leadership and excellent communication skills, a proven capacity to work across the multidisciplinary spectrum at both strategic and operational levels, to engage service users and key stakeholders and demonstrable competencies in the management and delivery of a set of disparate services.

This is a key post straddling the strategic/operational and clinical interface within the Elective Care subdivision of the South and South-West Division (SSW).

The post holder will contribute to the department's strategic workforce planning, governance, quality improvement, financial and performance management processes and will have responsibility for their effective implementation.

Main duties of the job

* To provide visible leadership, clinical and operational direction to a number of disparate services that consist of Neuro and Specialist services.
* To lead the operational delivery of responsible portfolio to ensure all aspects of clinical, financial, activity, quality and workforce performance are achieved and maintained.
* To work with the team to ensure effective systems are in place to address data quality issues and ensure effective delivery.
* To lead the operational embedding of the integrated models of care within the team including shared practice, shared teaching of patient caseloads.
* To work with the team to develop and maintain the capacity modelling and escalation process to ensure the effective operational delivery of services locally.
* To lead the development and delivery of streamlined pathways of care associated with the service delivery of the responsible portfolio.
* To lead the development of the service in terms of operational aspects working with the services Leads to support and improve quality/quantity of patient care.
* To take the lead for the development and delivery of specific workstreams identified by the Associate Director or Head of Service and to support implementation.
* To work proactively and collaboratively with multiple service stakeholder across the organisation, secondary care, primary care and the voluntary sector to support streamlined pathways for patient care.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Recognised Management or leadership Qualification
* Recent evidence of continued professional development
* Previous management experience including evidence of managing teams including experience of managing multiple specialty teams
* Demonstrate clear vision of patient care and service delivery
* Ability to analyse detailed service issues and produce appropriate reports and recommendations
* Experience and ability in working concurrently on a number of differing issues
* Previous experience of managing teams through change
* Previous experience of managing teams to deliver improved data quality and waiting list performance.
* Recent operational management experience
* Experience in project management
* Experience of interagency and joint working between different provider / external organisations
* Proven track record in building cohesive teams
* Experience of working in a changing environment
* Able to demonstrate flexible and adaptable approach
* Self-motivated and able to motivate and positively influence others
* Innovative approaches to achieving delivery objectives
* Demonstrate the ability to promote good written and verbal communication within the team
* Highly developed interpersonal skills
