Overview
Dorset Travel was formed in 2008 and are committed to providing a high quality service for the residents of Dorset. As a Team, we coordinate and support the Home to School transport provision to Special Education Needs Establishments and Mainstream Schools. In addition, transport is provided for Adult Day Centre visitors, members of the public as well as Child Care provision.
The combined ‘in house’ and contracted fleet carry over 13,000 passengers every day on various services and routes across Dorset as well as out of county. We are currently recruiting Casual Passenger Assistants to support young people with additional needs in the Weymouth area. Term Time Only basis, commencing at £12.85 per hour.
The role of a Casual Passenger Assistant is to support young people by providing additional assistance and maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school. This can be on an one to one basis or on shared transport. Casual Passenger Assistants cover Regular Passenger Assistant absence.
Responsibilities
* Support young people with additional needs during journeys to and from home and school, either one-to-one or in a shared transport setting.
* Cover Regular Passenger Assistant absence as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
* An understanding of safeguarding children.
* Ability to recognise hazards and report them appropriately.
You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of passenger assistant.
Training and Development
Dorset Travel is an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers. New staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.
