We are looking to recruit Fitters based at our Kirkby-in-Ashfield/Pinxton office to join our Rail Team. This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a hands-on permanent position with a dynamic and progressive company.
About the role
As a Fitter, you will be working alongside other fitters and carrying out routine preventative maintenance, servicing, fault finding and repairing and onsite repairs to Van Elle’s plant machinery and equipment, including road rail plant, excavators, piling rigs, attachments, compressors, lifting accessories and small plant. On occasions you may be required to visit site to undertake on-site repairs and inspections.
What you’ll be doing:
* Assist with pre-hire checks and paperwork
* Complete servicing on plant/machinery
* Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and actioning repairs
* Responding to electrical/mechanical breakdowns throughout the UK
* Maintenance, repair and statutory compliance of all plant machinery
* Ensure the workplace and working environment is kept to a high standard and in-line with company health and safety guidelines
* Assist with ordering parts
* Assure accurate service, repair and damage records are kept
* A firm understanding of electrics and hydraulics is essential
* Fault finding and resolving all electrical issues
* Use manufacturer's technical manuals and diagrams to help locate faults
* Prepare, present and accompany all rail plant, for annual inspections ensuring a first-time pass.
* Carry out periodic safety inspections to all rail plant and associated assets to 0200 plant module standards.
* Carry out fault diagnosis on complex hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, with a first-time fix policy.
* To ensure that all relevant legislation and Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.
* Weekend working is a requirement.
What we are looking for:
* Qualifications or experience as a Plant Mechanic/Fitter are essential (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
* Strong communication skills both verbally & written
* Able to communicate with management and other departments
* Flexibility to travel around the UK and hold a full, clean UK driver’s licence
* Valid CSCS and PTS card
* Be able to prioritise and organise own work effectively with the ability to work under pressure
* Competent in all Microsoft applications, especially office – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
* Effective planning and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Rail Plant Association Accreditation
