Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. It is an opportunity to join an enthusiastic and dynamic department with a wide range of specialties on offer.
As this post is available from now you will have completed, or be close to completing your training in Anaesthesia and will be able to start within the next few weeks. This is a hybrid post with responsibilities to both Upper GI/HPB/Transplant anaesthesia, which you will have some experience of, as well anaesthetic contributing to the wider anaesthetic department. Additional sub-specialty interests in Regional Anaesthesia and Anaesthesia for Trauma and Orthopaedics will be particularly welcome. The final job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate and will include at least 1 SPA.
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has a large anaesthetic department that has recently become ACSA accredited, and has close links with the University of Edinburgh Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. As a result, a range of opportunities exist for teaching, research and quality improvement work.
Edinburgh is a fantastic, vibrant city with a wide range of cultural and leisure pursuits available. Out with the centre, there is easy access to the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline.
