We’re working with a £250m turnover European manufacturing group seeking a hands on, detail driven Finance Manager to take ownership of finance operations across its UK entities, based from its UK HQ in Horwich, Bolton. Reporting into the Group Finance Director, you’ll lead a team of four - with wider coordination responsibilities across both UK based and offshore finance resource. This is a varied, people first role that combines financial reporting, controls, and technical accounting with the opportunity to develop your team and grow into a more senior leadership position. Manufacturing experience isn’t essential – what matters is strong technical finance skills, a calm and supportive leadership style, and the ability to bring clarity and insight to numbers. Key Requirements Manage a team of 4, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of month-end close Take full ownership of the month-end process Oversee and maintain internal controls, with a focus on journal reviews, reconciliations, and escalation to the FD where required Lead the coordination of both internal and external audits, including preparing impairment reviews and handling technical audit queries Act as the first point of contact for technical accounting queries - including lease accounting and documentation of key positions Support the preparation of UK statutory accounts Drive process reviews and improvements across finance operations Mentor and develop your team, creating structure, consistency and accountability Key Requirements Fully qualified accountant, ACA or ACCA preferred Experienced in management accounting, controls, and month-end review Confident managing audits and acting as the technical voice within finance Strong appreciation for control environments Comfortable managing a mixed team (onshore/offshore) and coordinating across stakeholders Practical, inquisitive and eager to grow - someone who sees the value in doing the fundamentals well Experience in a large, multi-entity international group would be beneficial Benefits include: £60,000 - £70,0000 15% bonus Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, 3 day from home 37.5 hours/week – compressed 4 day week considered Private medical, life assurance, 25 days holiday bank holidays Flexitime and a flexible benefits package Clearly defined path for progression to Financial Controller 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays Death in Service – 4x annual salary Health Insurance Enhanced maternity and paternity pay This is a people-first finance role, perfect for someone who wants to step up, build a capable team, and work closely with senior leaders in a growing group.
