Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter & Decorator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in both residential and commercial painting, with a strong understanding of color theory and construction practices. This role involves working on various projects, including renovations, restorations, and new constructions, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet client expectations.
Duties
* Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers as needed.
* Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and airless paint spraying equipment.
* Read blueprints and schematics to understand project specifications and requirements.
* Execute plastering, caulking, and trim carpentry tasks to enhance the aesthetic appeal of spaces.
* Perform maintenance tasks related to painting and decorating projects.
* Collaborate with other tradespeople on construction sites to ensure seamless project execution.
* Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various tasks.
* Conduct construction estimating to provide accurate assessments of materials and labor needed for projects.
* Maintain a clean work environment by properly storing tools and materials after use.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in residential and commercial painting projects.
* Strong knowledge of color theory and its application in design.
* Familiarity with construction practices including masonry, concrete finishing, and renovation techniques.
* Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately.
* Experience with plastering, caulking, trim carpentry, frame carpentry, and fixture installation is preferred.
* Basic math skills for estimating materials required for projects.
* Previous construction site experience is highly desirable.
* Maintenance Person experience is a plus; familiarity with welding is an advantage.
