About the Role

Join our Power Transmission & Distribution team as a Quality Control Engineer and you’ll be part of our legacy. The role is based in the Argyll region with an expectation to travel regularly to sites across the country and occasionally internationally.


Role Purpose

* Support Balfour Beatty delivery projects in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate compliance against Balfour Beatty requirements, external accreditations and industry good practice.
* Ensure implementation of procedures including submissions from the supply chain and assure the supply of materials meets client requirements and is right first time, ensuring a defect‑free delivery.


Responsibilities

* Attend factory acceptance tests and conduct inspections at suppliers, ensuring all requirements are fulfilled.
* Produce Manufacturing Assurance Plans to manage risk‑based intervention activities within the supply chain.
* Generate and maintain records of Factory Acceptance Tests/Inspections.
* Identify and control non‑conforming material and raise non‑conformance reports as necessary.
* Assist with investigation of root cause to ensure suitable corrective action plans are developed.
* Collate final quality records for handover of assets to client.
* Support establishment of a continuous improvement culture.
* Ensure all work practices comply with PT&D legal and statutory requirements relating to health and safety.
* Undertake other duties as required.
* Challenge existing systems and processes, ensuring best practice and continual improvement.

Qualifications – Essential

* A full UK Driving Licence.
* Ability and willingness to travel and work throughout the UK and overseas.
* Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
* Good communication skills.
* Observant with high levels of attention to detail.
* Good report writing and numeracy skills.
* Good IT skills (knowledge of MS Office 365).
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* Knowledge of electrical/mechanical testing of products.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.


Qualifications – Desirable

* Trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and process controls.
* Professional Quality Qualifications.
* Experience in attending, or carrying out, Factory Acceptance Testing.
* Experience in using Digital Progressive Assurance systems.
