As a result, Owens Group is looking to recruit a Transport Planner.
Shift: 4 on 4 off Days - 6am to 6pm
The Transport Planner will be responsible for the timely traffic planning of routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure that customers receive a first-class service in a cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Key Accountabilities:
* Carry out tasks largely unsupervised to meet cost and quality standards.
* Plan ahead, including tasks and resources. Liaise with internal and external customers to resolve problems.
* Collect, analyze, and distribute information/data.
* Provide professional and specialist advice both internally and externally.
* Develop and maintain relationships with external customers.
* Specify and ensure levels of support service are in place.
* Prioritize and coordinate workloads.
* Complete tasks within set timeframes and quality standards.
* Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with no complaints, working within budgets.
* Build successful working partnerships with customers, internal teams, and external partners.
* Deliver timely and accurate advice, earning respect for your competence.
Specific Key Accountabilities:
* Work with customers, suppliers, drivers, and traffic desks to plan routes and schedule deliveries for smooth operations.
* Prioritize workload, plan routes, and conduct driver briefings and de-briefings.
* Liaise with other depots within the company.
* Monitor driver communication and performance.
* Organize schedules, journeys, and loads efficiently.
* Proactively reduce late deliveries and missed time slots.
* Work flexibly and make quick decisions.
* Maintain excellent communication skills and handle interactions at all levels.
* Maintain and operate the Stirling computer system and Excel spreadsheets.
* Understand current transport regulations.
* Possess good geographical knowledge.
* Monitor compliance, work with drivers and compliance teams to eliminate infringements.
* Ensure drivers are aware of SAFED standards and actively contribute to safety achievements.
* Be responsible for employee health and safety.
* Ensure vehicles and trailers are available timely for compliance and inspections.
* Provide general support to management as required.
Qualifications and Job Training:
* Experience in a similar role.
* Job-specific qualification preferred.
* Experience in Traffic Management and VOSA Compliance.
* Strong problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
* Ability to work independently, managing time and priorities to meet deadlines.
Skills:
* Excellent communication skills at all levels.
* Good geographical knowledge.
* Team player with a flexible, 'Can Do' attitude.
