Responsibilities

* Understand your customer base and liaise regularly with the external account manager regarding customer requirements.
* Proactively utilise Sales Hub systems to make outbound calls to identify and effectively chase quotes and to track and manage customer projects.
* Manage enquiries from initial contact to invoice to customer by identifying the products or materials required by the customer, offering alternatives if necessary to profitably maximise the sale of goods.
* Exceed personal sales targets through maintaining control of discount/margin on existing customer ledger.
* Negotiate and build relationships with key suppliers and their representatives.
* Provide a focal point for customer queries, dealing politely and efficiently with all requests for information.
* Maintain knowledge of products and materials, their qualities and uses, sizes and quantities in which they are sold, remaining aware of price movements as a result of price increase, scarcity of stock and special offers.
* Participate and drive your development through training and learning from others.
* Ensure all cash and credit sales procedures and documentation are completed correctly without error, maintaining a day book, actioning all enquiries/orders taken.
* Ensure all documentation is correct, and records maintained in line with Company policy, paying particular regard to Company credit procedures.
* Safety is a priority and you’ll make sure that standards never slip.

Qualifications

* Ability to identify, understand and respond to customer needs.
* Desire to progress and improve skills and abilities.
* Ability to work on your own initiative.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Ability to work as a member of a team.
* Sound product knowledge would be desirable, but not essential.
* Good organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise.
* IT experience and good numerical skills.
