Offer description

Department: Technical Services
Contract: Full‑time, Permanent
Salary: £39,239.36

About The Role

As a Port Maintenance Team Leader, you’ll be the on‑site lead for a workgroup, taking responsibility for coordinating tasks, ensuring safe working practices, and delivering maintenance activities across the port. From inspections and repairs to supporting other departments and contractors, no two days look the same. If you enjoy practical work, problem‑solving, and guiding others, this role offers the perfect blend of responsibility and variety.

Why you’ll love working here

At Stena Line, we put safety first and treat each other with care and respect. You'll join a dedicated Technical Services team that values teamwork, reliability, and continuous improvement. Expect a supportive environment, the chance to build new skills, and opportunities to make a real impact on the day‑to‑day operation of the port.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead an allocated workgroup and act as the responsible permit holder.
* Liaise with Technical Services management to agree work scopes and methods.
* Ensure safe control of work areas at all times.
* Carry out routine maintenance to support safe port operations.
* Maintain records and documentation for port assets and machinery.
* Conduct general inspections and upkeep across port facilities.
* Monitor and maintain stock levels, especially for adverse weather response.
* Complete general repairs within your capability.
* Support external contractors working on site.
* Undertake any additional tasks as directed by line management.

What You Will Experience

You’ll be part of a hands‑on, collaborative team that plays a vital role in keeping the port operating safely and efficiently. Work will be varied—often outdoors and sometimes in challenging weather. Some tasks may require confined space entry or access by boat, with all appropriate training and equipment provided. Weekly work schedules will guide your tasks, but no two weeks will be the same.

Benefits

* Concessionary travel on Irish Sea/North Sea routes
* 75% discount on UK Rail travel
* Company pension & life assurance
* Discounts on gym memberships, digital fitness, and equipment
* Wellbeing cash plan (dental, eye tests, health screening, etc.)
* Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
* Cycle‑to‑work scheme
* Employee Assistance Programme
* Ongoing training, coaching, and career development

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone reliable, safety‑focused, and confident in leading others. You’ll bring experience from a construction or maintenance environment and be comfortable acting as the main point of contact for your workgroup. If you’re punctual, proactive, and enjoy taking ownership of tasks while supporting your team, you’ll fit right in.

Qualifications

Essential

* Clean driving licence
* Basic educational or vocational training
* Previous experience in construction or maintenance
* Experience leading a work team or work party
* Strong Health & Safety awareness
* Reliability, punctuality, and the right skills and attitude to perform the role
