An Indian subsidiary of Amazon.com, a US-based MNC in the ecommerce sector, has an exciting opening for a talented, young candidate for the role of Associate Corporate Counsel. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of post-qualification experience to provide legal advisory and contract management support to various Amazon businesses in India. The position is based in Bangalore and is for a fixed term of 3 years. The ACC will report to a Corporate Counsel or Senior Corporate Counsel in Bangalore.
The Attorney will collaborate with the legal team and business operations to ensure operational excellence, advise on compliance with local regulations, including secretarial compliance, and handle negotiations and documentation of third-party contracts such as procurement agreements, master service agreements, sales and advertising contracts, and NDAs. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role involves direct contact with business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide legal counseling on areas including intellectual property, digital media, e-commerce, company secretarial, and regulatory compliance.
2. Resolve issues in existing commercial relationships and manage pre-litigation legal disputes.
3. Draft and negotiate contracts ensuring alignment with company policies, legal standards, and business goals.
4. Review program constructs for new and existing initiatives, developing or refining terms and conditions.
5. Review and approve promotional materials across print and digital media to ensure compliance with Amazon standards.
6. Analyze business processes, understand requirements, and draft scope of contracts.
7. Maintain strong legal and business judgment and communicate effectively across management levels.
8. Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills in English and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Basic Qualifications
1. LL.B. from a recognized Indian university and Associate Member (ACS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), with valid membership.
2. At least 3 years of experience as a practicing lawyer or in-house counsel, with autonomous responsibility in advising clients, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts.
