This great opportunity is a permanent full-time role working alongside a high-performing team, dedicated to building scalable, secure, and resilient services that drive Freely’s ecosystem. You'll collaborate closely with product, frontend, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with Zurich Cover-More’s global standards. Salary: Competitive salary plus super So, what’s the job? You'll design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js / TypeScript / Python. You'll develop with REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, and WebSockets. You'll develop serverless applications leveraging AWS Services including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, AppSync, etc. You'll implement and optimize domain-driven, event-driven architectures and microservices. You'll ensure high performance and reliability with best practices in CI/CD, observability, and security. You'll work with SQL / NoSQL databases, optimizing query performance and scalability. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate with frontend (React and React Native) and third-party service providers. You'll maintain a strong focus on testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end). You'll contribute to technical architecture decisions to support Freely’s growth and scalability. You'll address technical debt, improve system reliability, and enhance Freely’s AI/ML-driven initiatives. And what are we looking for? To be successful in this role - You'll have 5 years of backend development experience with Node.js / TypeScript / Python. You'll have experience working with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, EventBridge, AppSync, Cognito). You'll have a strong understanding of serverless architectures, domain-driven & event-driven patterns, and microservices. You'll have hands-on experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases. You'll have knowledge of authentication, authorization (JWT), and security best practices. You'll have experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Serverless Framework, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK). You'll bring a strong problem-solving mindset with experience in performance optimization and debugging. You'll have exposure to monitoring and observability tools (Sentry, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch). You'll be passionate about agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and modern engineering practices.
