Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Quality & Service Engineer to join the Sumo team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, development, procurement, production and sales, to implement and maintain quality assurance processes that drive improvements and minimize defects.
On top of this, the successful candidate will get the opportunity to expand his experience in supporting our dealers and distributors within field and office based technical support, strengthening our levels of Field Dealer Support Functionality.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Assurance:
Complete final quality inspections on all machines leaving the factory, including:
* Paint finish and cosmetic checks
* Visual weld inspection
* Torque checking of fasteners
* Verification of hydraulic and electrical systems
* Ensuring correct options and components are fitted
* Functional testing and geometry checks
* Sign off machines for stock or identify rectification work required to meet Sumo quality standards.
Reporting & Documentation:
Produce quality reports to:
* Track build quality and trends
* Highlight recurring issues
* Support continuous improvement initiatives
* Maintain accurate records for internal quality audits and reviews.
* Ensure compliance with Sumo quality standards and internal procedures. ISO9001
Warranty & Service Support
* Support the administration and processing of warranty claims, working closely with the parts and dealer support team.
* Assess warranty claims for technical validity, identifying root causes and appropriate corrective actions.
Failure Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
Work closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to:
* Identify root causes
* Implement corrective and preventative actions
* Improve product reliability and build quality.
* Assist in the investigation of component or machine failures, both in-house and in the field.
Collaboration:
* Work closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Parts, and Service teams to resolve quality and service issues.
* Act as a key link between factory quality, aftersales, and dealer support.
Skills and Experience
Experience
* Proven hands-on experience in service, engineering and/or manufacturing preferable.
Skills & Knowledge
* Keen eye for detail.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
* Follow assembly instructions and or technical drawings, ability to conduct technical measuring & assessing of fabrication & assembly standards.
* Good technical aptitude and willingness to take a hands-on approach
* Proactive and self-motivated forward thinker that can work individually
Desirable Skills
* Familiarity with Technical Drawings, Electrical and Hydraulic schematics
* Experience in Agricultural Machinery
* Forklift and Telehandler Tickets
Inhouse training will be provided to the successful candidate who is willing to learn new skills
