The Division
The UK-based Integrated Components and Solutions team offers exciting engineering opportunities, working on integrating electronic control systems in Caterpillar products. Incorporating latest electronics and electrical tech enables us to differentiate our products through performance and value.
Our systems include engine control for air and fuel delivery, power management, battery management with advanced algorithms, and machine operation control—covering engine, transmission, electric powertrains, hydraulics, human-machine interfaces, and system diagnostics, enabling automation, productivity, and serviceability.
Job Role and Responsibilities
You will develop electro-mechanical control systems using quantitative problem-solving methods for Caterpillar's internal and external customers. Responsibilities vary by role but include:
1. Gathering customer requirements and creating technical specifications for electronic features.
2. Designing electrical system architectures to meet technical needs.
3. Defining control algorithms and developing software with model-based techniques.
4. Planning and conducting verification tests using simulation, SIL, HIL, and on machines.
5. Troubleshooting electronics/control system issues during build and testing.
6. Investigating performance issues, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions.
7. Participating in FMEA, safety, and compliance reviews.
Basic Qualifications
A strong technical background, preferably with a degree in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems, or automotive engineering, though relevant experience will also be considered.
Preferred Experience (depending on specific role):
Experience with off-highway machinery, engines, EV control systems, or comparable automotive, marine, or military vehicle control systems.
