We are looking to welcome an enthusiastic colleague who will continue to provide excellent care in the friendly atmosphere of our orthodontic department at York and Scarborough Hospitals.
This full-time Consultant post (10 PAs) is based at York Hospital, with clinical commitments at Scarborough Hospital. Flexible/less-than-full-time working options are open for discussion. The successful candidate will participate in Orthognathic and Orthodontic/Restorative MDTs and conduct a full range of orthodontic consultations and treatments appropriate for secondary care, excluding cleft treatments. Applications from candidates planning to sit the ISFE in the next 6 months are welcome.
Main duties of the job
The department is part of the Head and Neck Directorate within the Surgery Care Group, located in the Head and Neck outpatient department, alongside Audiology, ENT, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Restorative Dentistry. The department features an on-site laboratory and is equipped with 3D technology, including intra-oral scanners, 3-Shape design software, and 3D printers.
You will work alongside two Orthodontic Consultants, one with commitments at Scarborough Hospital and the other at Harrogate District Hospital. The team also includes an orthodontic specialty dentist, clinic assistant, and therapists in York, with additional therapists in Scarborough and Harrogate. The dental nursing team is highly supportive, complemented by administrative staff. Collaboration extends to two Restorative Dentistry consultants and several Maxillofacial surgeons, with some performing orthognathic surgeries that are 3D planned. The department offers comprehensive treatment options, including implants and tissue augmentation.
There are excellent teaching and research opportunities, with orthodontic trainees shared with Leeds Dental Institute and funded by HEE Yorkshire and Humber. The Trust is actively enhancing its research profile.

Qualifications
* Hold a licence to practise with the GDC
* Substantive NHS experience
Qualifications
* Have passed the ISFE in Orthodontics or will do so within 6 months of the interview
Clinical Practice
* Experience working in MDTs including Orthognathic and Restorative
Mentoring and Teaching
* Experience in audits and presenting findings
* Supervising SpRs/specialist trainees
* Involving patients in care decisions
