(*This role attracts a Responsibility Allowance for the additional responsibility of English Lead equating to £3,000 per annum)*

Brantwood Specialist School is located on the outskirts of Sheffield. In addition to the main campus it includes a smallholding and a theatre/performing arts space. The curriculum at Brantwood includes clay work, jewellery making, felting and weaving, forge work and green woodwork. Brantwood Specialist School is part of Ruskin Mill Trust.
Brantwood Specialist School is an exciting and innovative provision which offers full time education to children who have significant/complex social, emotional or educational difficulties. At Brantwood Specialist School students will learn through a dynamic outdoor land and craft-based curriculum, which includes practical skills; textiles, green woodwork, pottery, cooking and blacksmithing with a significant period of time involved in growing biodynamic produce in the school gardens and looking after the farm animals.
We are seeking a Special Education Teacher and leader who specialise in the subject area of Literacy who as part of the school’s middle leadership will take the lead to plan, co-ordinate and quality assure in their given area. This is to ensure that the subject is consistently well planned throughout the school and quality assured on a regular basis. In this role you will be ensuring the pupils engage in learning and achieve by providing practical, experiential and therapeutic education through careful planning of the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience.
*You will have: *
* Qualified Teacher Status with subject leader experience of co-ordinating, leading and quality assuring your subject area of Literacy/English
* Experience of the National Curriculum framework of assessment
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* A practical approach to engaging pupils.
* Experience of working with children with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities.
* Experience working across multiple key stages and preparing students for examinations and assessment.
* Experience within specialist education and the Steiner Waldorf Curriculum are desirable.
