1-month contract with a local authority Summary This is a 1-month contract with a local authority aimed at supporting the effective delivery of waste, recycling, and street cleansing services across East and North Hertfordshire. The Waste Management Officer will engage with residents, address waste and recycling queries, conduct inspections, monitor performance, and ensure that the council’s waste services meet high standards. The role involves lone working across districts, monitoring contractor performance, conducting surveys, and ensuring excellent service provision to local communities. Responsibilities Act as a point of contact for residents regarding waste, recycling, and street cleansing inquiries. Support the delivery and collection of containers for residents as required. Provide clear advice on waste operations, duty of care requirements, and environmental responsibilities. Assist with community engagement and promotional activities, including occasional weekend events. Essential Experience Required Experience working in local government, environmental services, or public-sector operational teams. Knowledge of waste legislation, environmental quality standards, and recycling initiatives (advantageous but not essential). Essential Qualifications Required No specific qualification required; relevant experience in waste operations, environmental services, or customer service is essential. Training in health & safety, environmental management, or waste operations is desirable but not mandatory.
