Mechanical Engineer – Mobile RoleSalary: Up to £44,000 +pany Car/Car Allowance

Hays is recruiting an experienced Mechanical (or M&E) Engineer to join a leading organisation supporting UK defence sites across multiple locations. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong professional seeking a varied mobile role with real responsibility and career development.
The RoleAs a Mechanical Engineer, you will support the safe,pliant, and effective delivery of engineering and maintenance services across several MOD sites. Your work will ensure that operational standards are met, risks are managed appropriately, and engineering teams are supported with high‑quality technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver safe andpliant engineering services across multiple sites.
2. Support and adhere to Safe Systems of Work, includingpliance with JSP375.
3. Produce high‑quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
4. Provide technical support to site teams, supply chain partners, and end users.
5. Advise on engineering standards, estate safety, and assetpliance.
6. Support project work and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and carbon‑reduction initiatives.
7. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure high standards of service delivery.
8. Supervise, assess, and coach skilled people, ensuringpetence and regulatorypliance.
9. Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota.
10. Travel between regional sites as required.
About You
11. Fully qualified Mechanical Engineer (Electrical background or M&E experience also considered)
12. Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work, ideally with experience of JSP375.
13. Confident in decision‑making, problem‑solving, and working independently across multiple locations.
14. Experience supervising site operations, managing resources, and leading technical staff.
15. Full UK driving licence.
16. Able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
