The Safety Compliance and Assurance Partner will support the development, implementation and embedding of a system to manage and oversee safety compliance across the Trust in relation to all relevant statutory, regulatory, and best practice safety standards across the multiple aspects of care to which a highly specialised provider is required to adhere.

The postholder will focus on safety compliance with the aim of facilitating flows of information between the Compliance team and Chiefs of Service, Heads of Nursing, heads of service and team managers, wards, departments, and service areas.

The postholder will lead the monitoring of actions to give assurance on findings, actions and improvements identified through both external and internal scrutiny.

The postholder will maintain a watching brief on likely findings if a planned or unannounced visit takes place.

The postholder will review any relevant published reports to identify areas of best practice, or areas of improvement, applicable to Great Ormond Street Hospital, to ensure that the Trust is continually learning and improving in its delivery of safe clinical care.

The postholder is responsible for supporting specific areas and the wider organisation to achieve the highest possible external inspection, assessment, and review outcomes for all safety regulatory frameworks under which the Trust operates.

The postholder will support the management of relationships with the Care Quality Commission and other assessment and regulatory bodies in the safety arena.

They will manage the administration of maintaining registration and co‑ordinate arrangements for any announced regulatory visits as well as responding to any unannounced visits by coordinating arrangements and any follow up.

Assess risks identified through external reviews, audits, complaints, and national reports to inform safety compliance with the outcomes under the assessment regimes of the CQC, HTA, MHRA, UKAS, HSIB and others relevant to the Patient Safety arena.

The postholder will lead the receipt of and management of safety compliance with Central Alerting System (CAS) and National Patient Safety Alerts, as well as other alerts, monitor all responses on the Datix Safety Alerts Module and close the alert on CAS before the deadline for action date.

Promote a culture of safety and quality, openness and accountability, public service, and teamwork in an environment of flexibility in which innovation can flourish in response to patients’ needs.

Support the management and coordination of Patient Safety Partners, including engagement, communication, and involvement in safety‑related activities.
