We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer / Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to join our client in their Bristol office.
The Role
On a day-to-day basis you will be involved with the preparation of, and input into, Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports, principally to support planning applications, from minor projects through to major developments, nationwide. This will include internet-based research, report writing, and the preparation of drawings and plans (using AutoCAD and InfoDrainage software) to accompany those reports. Appropriate training will be provided through on-project learning and external training courses. Travel to site visits and meetings (usually with a more experienced colleague) will also be necessary.
Essential Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
* Excellent numeracy, oral communication and written English skills.
* A relevant Bachelor or Master’s Degree (in a subject such as Geography or Civil Engineering).
* Experience in Microsoft Office packages (Word and Excel).
* Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and deadlines.
* Pro-active, creative and logical thinker able to problem solve.
Desirable Skills
* A full UK driving licence is desirable.
* Experience of flood risk assessments and designing drainage schemes using InfoDrainage.
* Report preparation.
* Knowledge of AutoCAD.
* A working knowledge of relevant planning and technical guidance such as the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), CIRIA SuDS Design Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance and Building Regulations.
