Overview
Our community volunteers will be based outside the hospital. The role will be based in Huyton, Kirkby and Whiston. More details can be found in the Job Description. It is anticipated that this role would be particularly suitable for ex-cardiac rehabilitation patients and/or their carers who could be recruited as volunteers and receive training to support their role as cardiac buddies.
Responsibilities
* To greet patients and visitors on arrival and direct them to the cardiac rehabilitation clinic if required, escort them to their destinations across the site.
* Provide assistance to anyone who may need support in a community setting.
* To welcome patients to community clinics and ensure they are aware of the location of the facilities (for example toilet facilities).
* Interact with patients and family members in cardiac rehabilitation clinics to make them feel welcome and help prepare them for the clinic/session, especially for those who are anxious about attending or attending for the first time.
* Act as a Buddy/Befriending role and chat with patients.
* Make drinks for patients and visitors and wash/tidy away used crockery and cutlery.
* Engage with patients and service users following consultation to gain feedback via FFT and provide both paper and digital patient audit questionnaires when required.
* Provide an escort service to the entrance of the community venue for patients who are awaiting transport and may require/benefit from assistance.
Requirements / Compliance
* As part of pre-employment checks we will require satisfactory references. At least one written reference from your current or most recent employer is required; references must come from a professional work email address.
* Employers are expected to implement the Care Certificate for all applicable new starters from April 2015. The Care Certificate aims to equip health and social care support workers with the knowledge and skills to provide safe, compassionate care. New starters in clinical, patient-facing posts (bands 1–4) are expected to complete all 15 standards of the Care Certificate within their first 6 months with the Trust.

* UKVI sponsorship: Prohibition on sponsorship for all Band 2 and 3 posts. Check UKVI guidance on Skilled Worker Visas to determine eligibility if offered a conditional role.
* For Skilled Worker/Health and Care visa applicants, you may be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from any country you have lived in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years, applicable to you and any adult dependants.
