Public Health Enforcement Officer
Directorate: ENVIRONMENT & REGENERATION
Section: Planning and Public Protection
Contract Type: 1 year fixed temporary post with the possibility of extension up to 2 years, subject to budget and performance.
Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week

About the role:
We seek an Enforcement Officer or Graduate Environmental Health Officer to support seasonal and increased service demands. The postholder will serve as a floating resource across General Environmental Health teams, including Noise and Statutory Nuisance, Housing Enforcement, and Health and Safety Regulation. This role is suitable for newly qualified Environmental Health Officers, graduates in Environmental Health, or experienced enforcement personnel seeking temporary or career development opportunities.
The successful candidate will handle complaint case management, including investigating official complaints according to the Council’s Corporate Complaints Policy, gathering information, and conducting investigations.
The role involves collaboration with enforcement agencies such as Planning Enforcement, Anti-Social Behaviour, Waste Enforcement, South Wales Police, Fire and Rescue, and Arson Reduction.
About you:
Ideally, you will have:
* At least 4 GCSE passes or equivalent, and
* A relevant qualification at HNC, Diploma, or higher (BSc/MSc) in Environmental Health or related field.
