AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to AWS services. We work on challenging problems with many variables affecting the supply chain, and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with teams across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at low cost. The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for AWS Data Center facilities in AWS Cloud regions. Our technicians operate and maintain the world‑class mechanical and electrical infrastructure, ensure safety procedures are implemented, and support facility operations.
The role requires a motivated, self‑managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions while striving for operational excellence. The work follows a process‑oriented approach with a willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities.
The successful candidate will be part of the Engineering and Facilities team and will be responsible for maintaining availability for customers, ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure, and the upkeep and operation of the DC facility.
Key job responsibilities
* Safety - Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and foster a world‑class safety culture. Own safety initiatives and projects in collaboration with other teams.
* Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance - Operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPS, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATS, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, and transformers
* Troubleshoot events within internal SLA guidelines
* Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment during rounds and log temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.
* Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
* Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required
* Ability to work shifts (morning, late, and night) and on‑call rotations for emergencies

Basic Qualifications
* City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Knowledge and experience of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC, Controls) or knowledge and experience of key electrical competencies and theory
Preferred Qualifications
* 2+ years of data center engineering operations experience
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or equivalent engineering
