Job Title: Catering Assistant

Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm
Working Weeks: Term Time Only – 36 Weeks (With Holiday Pay: 40.328 Weeks)
Salary: £12.21 per hour / £17,234.18 annually (based on 35 working weeks)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Catering Assistant to join our team at WQE College. This is a term-time only position, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and serve food and beverages to customers
* Assist with food preparation including sandwiches and cold items
* Carry out general front-of-house duties such as clearing tables, table service, and customer interaction
* Operate tills and handle payments
* Restock items and manage stock rotation
* Maintain cleanliness in both front and back of house areas (sweeping, mopping, general housekeeping)
* Work flexibly across different tasks with full training and support provided
Skills & Requirements
* Must be aged 18 or over
* Previous experience interacting with inmates is advantageous
* Ability to motivate and supervise inmates and/or team members in a correctional work environment
* Must be able to obtain a food safety certification
* Capable of working independently with limited supervision
* Good judgment and tact
* Ability to follow safety procedures and policies
* Must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance
* Physically able to meet demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing
* Uniforms and PPE may be required
