Communication Network Controller Location Duncrue Industrial Estate, 31–51 Duncrue Road, Belfast, BT3 9BP ⏳ Contract Details Type: Temporary Hours: 37 per week Main Purpose of the Role The Communication Network Controller will play a key role in supporting the operational delivery of Waste Collection and Fleet services by acting as a central communication hub. The postholder will be responsible for managing incoming and outgoing communications, coordinating responses, logging issues, and ensuring that all relevant information is passed to the correct teams efficiently and accurately. ️ Key Duties & Responsibilities Communication & Coordination Act as the first point of contact for internal and external communications relating to service operations. Receive, log, and prioritise calls, emails, and radio communications. Relay information clearly and accurately to operational teams and supervisors. Provide timely updates on service disruptions, delays, or changes. ️ Administrative Support Maintain accurate electronic and manual records of incidents, requests, and communications. Update internal systems with real-time operational information. Prepare reports, logs, and summaries as required. File, scan, and archive documents in line with data protection and retention policies. Operational Support Assist with the coordination of fleet and waste collection services. Monitor schedules and flag any issues or delays. Support the reallocation of resources when required. Ensure correct procedures are followed during service interruptions or emergencies. Customer & Stakeholder Support Deal professionally with enquiries from staff, contractors, and members of the public. Provide clear and accurate information in a calm and courteous manner. Escalate urgent or sensitive issues to the appropriate manager. ⚖️ Compliance & Procedures Follow all health & safety, data protection, and council policies. Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times. Support audits and service reviews where required. ✅ Essential Criteria Applicants must demonstrate: Skills & Experience Previous experience in an administrative, control room, or coordination role. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment. Experience using IT systems, databases, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Personal Attributes Calm under pressure and able to deal with urgent situations. Professional and customer-focused approach. Strong organisational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Desirable Criteria Experience working in a local authority or public sector environment.
