Autonomy in credit decisions | Exposure to complex property cases | Direct intermediary relationships | New product team build If you’re an experienced Underwriter looking to apply sound judgement in a specialist lending environment, this role offers the chance to work on varied 1st and 2nd charge mortgage cases while influencing decisions that genuinely matter. You’ll have ownership of your pipeline and the mandate to underwrite beyond tick box criteria. This is a role with real responsibility and visibility. You’ll work closely with intermediaries, contribute to a new product team, and operate in a culture that values well evidenced decisions, regulatory rigour, and commercial awareness without unnecessary bureaucracy. Package & Benefits • Salary £35,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience. About the Company The business is a well established specialist lender with over 15 years’ experience in property finance. It operates across bridging and development lending and is now launching a new product team, creating opportunities to influence how propositions and processes evolve. Key Responsibilities • Underwrite 1st and 2nd charge residential and buy to let mortgage applications in line with specialist lending criteria. • Assess borrower financials, credit profiles, and property valuations to deliver well documented, compliant lending decisions. • Manage and progress a pipeline of cases, working closely with intermediaries and third parties through to offer. About You • Minimum of 2 years’ underwriting experience within residential and or buy to let specialist lending. • Proven experience making lending decisions in a regulated environment, including AML, KYC, and FCA requirements. • Background in managing a varied underwriting pipeline with exposure to intermediary led business.
