Tea Room Assistant, Front of House – Seasonal Role

Primary purpose:
Join a welcoming team dedicated to creating a pleasant and memorable experience for visitors during a busy seasonal period. This role involves providing friendly and efficient service in a busy visitor centre tea room, helping to ensure that every guest feels valued and comfortable at peak times. The position is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with a diverse range of people and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Attention to detail and a positive approach are essential to maintaining high standards of service and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the facility throughout the season.
This is a seasonal role which will commence from April until approximately August. This is a temporary role and part-time hours.
Your day to day:

Greet and assist visitors, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout their visit
* Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, hot and cold plated meals and a variety of cakes & snacks with care and consistency
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the tea room area, including tables, counters, and serving stations
* Operate tills and payment systems accurately and handle cash or electronic transactions securely
* Restock supplies and ingredients in line with demand to support efficient service
* Collaborate with team members to manage busy periods effectively and uphold service quality standards
* Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for visitors and staff alike
* Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors regarding any issues or special requirements
What you bring to the team

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with a wide range of visitors
* A customer-focused attitude and confidence in delivering welcoming, courteous service
* Basic numeracy skills to handle payments and maintain accurate records
* Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team
* Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment
* Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards at all times
* Experience working in hospitality, catering, or customer service roles is desirable but not essential
* Familiarity with food safety practices and hygiene standards
* An interest in visitor engagement and a friendly, approachable manner
* Basic knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems or cash handling procedures
