Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience and knowledge of infection prevention and control and the management of common infections. The role requires the ability and willingness to travel around the council area. Excellent communication skills and confidence in liaising with providers and other healthcare stakeholders are essential. The individual should also be competent in basic IT skills and able to support the administrative responsibilities of the Health Protection team.
Main duties of the job
This role is interesting and varied, mainly working with our residential care and adult social care providers, you will provide infection prevention and control (IPC) advice and support during outbreaks of infectious disease, undertake and appropriately report IPC audits in regulated care settings and contribute to IPC training.
The Health Protection Team, within the Council Public Health Team work closely with our NHS partners to promote safe care, reduce the spread of infection and proactively support preventative healthcare. This role will provide the opportunity to develop an understanding of population level health protection and the wider determinants of health.

Job responsibilities
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Practitioner will work with the Public Health Manager and Health Protection and Health Protection Nurses to influence areas of the Councils Outbreak ControlPlan, specifically to assist in the prevention and management of outbreaks of communicablediseases and for the prevention and management of health care associated infections. They willsupport the development of resources to improve infection prevention and control knowledge andpractices within health and social care, schools and the general population.

* Qualifications:
* NVQ level 5, professional qualification or equivalent experience. A related qualification
Experience
* Knowledge:
* Significant knowledge of infection prevention and control.
* Experience:
* Significant experience of working with a wide range of health and social care
* professionals, specifically the regulated care sector.
* Expertise:
* Critical analysis skills to interpret research and guidance
* Experience of developing and implementing a programme of audits, and evaluation
* skills
* Data analysis skills for the collection and interpretation of surveillance data
* Effective communication skills, including report writing,
* Programme development and teaching skills are desired.
