GE’s Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems critical to customers’ power and energy needs for high-performance applications. We collaborate with major energy, maritime, and industrial organizations to enable energy efficiency and decarbonization through specialist motors, drives, and control technologies.
The Quality Engineer will work within the current quality team, reporting directly to the UK Quality Leader.
Job Description
Essential responsibilities
1. Manage the company NCR system, provide management reports, and drive actions with stakeholders to resolution using quality tools such as Kaizen, RCA, 8D, 5 Why.
2. Conduct product and process audits.
3. Create project and manufacturing control plans.
4. Ensure control plans and documentation are effectively implemented and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
5. Monitor and report quality KPIs including scrap, rework levels, and first-time yield during weekly quality Gemba meetings.
6. Promote a zero-defect and stop-the-line culture.
7. Ensure compliance with and support the QMS (ISO 9001:2015).
8. Participate in cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks on new projects/processes, including using FMEA approaches.
9. Engage with customers during project meetings and final inspections, preparing reports and presentations as needed.
10. Maintain flexibility in approach and time management to meet project deadlines.
Skills and Attributes
1. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
2. Knowledge of quality systems, measurement tools, and techniques.
3. Familiarity with Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Part Approval Processes (PPAP), and FMEA.
4. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, VSM, Gauge R&R.
5. Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
6. Knowledge of NATO standards such as AQAP 2105/2110.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Relevant business, commercial, manufacturing, or engineering degree preferred, or HNC or NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
