Learning Support Assistant - Secondary SEN School Location: Southampton Start Date: September 2025 Salary: £13.75 per hour Contract Type: Term Time Only (38 weeks per year) An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and highly regarded secondary special educational needs (SEN) school in Southampton. They are seeking dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistants to join the team from September 2025. This role involves working under the direction of the class teacher to support the learning, development, and personal care needs of pupils aged 11–19 with a range of complex needs, including global developmental delay, autism spectrum conditions, and physical disabilities requiring wheelchair use. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the delivery of tailored learning activities as directed by the class teacher Assisting pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning Providing personal care support where required, including toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance Promoting the emotional, social, and physical well-being of all pupils Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals The Successful Candidate Will: Demonstrate a calm, patient, and nurturing approach Be able to follow instruction while using initiative where appropriate Have a strong commitment to supporting young people with complex needs Have SEN experience or experience within a care setting This is a term time only position, offering a supportive working environment and opportunities for training and development within a specialist educational setting.
