Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Do you want to play a key role in shaping inclusive practice across Wakefield’s developing network of Inclusion Resource Provisions and SEND Units?


We are looking for a committed and experienced Resource Inclusion Lead Practitioner to join our Inclusion service and work across multiple provisions to ensure high‑quality teaching, support and provision for pupils with a wide range of complex needs.


About the Role


As a Resource Inclusion Lead Practitioner, you will:

1. Lead, manage and develop SEND resource provision alongside the Teacher in Charge.
2. Support settings to establish nurturing, supportive environments that celebrate pupil strengths and promote independence.
3. Provide specialist teaching, advice and modelling for staff working with pupils with complex needs, including C&I, SLCN and SEMH.
4. Coordinate assessments, pupil profiles, outcomes and EHCP processes.
5. Oversee the planning and delivery of high‑quality, differentiated curriculum pathways.
6. Line‑manage specialist support staff and contribute to performance management, training and ongoing development.
7. Work collaboratively with families, host schools, external agencies and colleagues across the Wakefield Inclusion Service.
8. Contribute to SEND strategic development, quality assurance and continuous improvement across IRPs and SEND Units.


This is a highly rewarding role where you will directly influence the quality of inclusive education across Wakefield.


About You


You will be an innovative, reflective practitioner with:

9. QTS and experience teaching pupils with SEND (essential).
10. Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, the curriculum, and inclusive teaching strategies.
11. Experience in leadership, coaching and supporting staff.
12. The ability to work flexibly across multiple settings and build strong, effective relationships.
13. A solution‑focused, positive and child‑centred approach.
14. Commitment to professional development, teamwork and high‑quality provision.


Additional training in SEND (e.g., ASD, SEMH, Nurture, Restorative Practice) is desirable.
