The Acute Occupational Therapy Inpatient Team provides assessment and treatment programmes to clients on the three Adults inpatient wards (Sunflower, Tulip, and Daisy). The team offers both specialist therapy assessments and a needs-led, client-centred individual and group activity and therapy programme on the wards and in the therapy department, located nearby.
Clients on the inpatient wards present with acute or enduring mental health symptoms, often with co-existing physical diagnoses. Some clients have been detained under the Mental Health Act and may require skilled support to reintegrate into the community following admission.
The therapy role involves functional assessments and providing professional advice that informs risk assessments and discharge plans. The team collaborates closely with the wards’ multidisciplinary teams.
The Team Leader provides professional leadership to ensure the team works effectively with other disciplines to deliver an integrated occupational therapy service to inpatients on the three adult wards.
