Job Title: MO19 Specialist Firearms Command - Police Staff National Firearms Instructor
Salary: The starting salary is £45,131, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £42,203 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £47,668. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

We are recruiting experienced NFI's to undertake the role of a Police Staff National Firearms Instructor.
Candidates will be joining the MPS firearms training unit and may be posted to a training position within any of the main or satellite training venues that the MPS operates. Location will depend on organisational need at the time of recruitment.
The role involves:
* Writing, delivering and developing firearms training on behalf of the MPS and where required, approved partner agencies.
* Being part of a permanent training team, which will be a mix of Police Officer/Police Staff firearms instructors.
* Delivering training to existing and new students in various role profiles that you are occupationally competent within.
* Maintaining occupational competence as an Authorised Firearms Officer as a minimum role profile requirement (other role profiles may be accessed on authority of the Chief Firearms Instructor).
* Successful completion of the annual Fitness and Medical requirements – set annually by the Chief Firearms Instructor for the MPS.
* Completion of mandatory development training days annually.

The recruitment process will involve a paper sift assessment, followed by successful candidates being invited to attend an interview process.
The interview/paper sift will be conducted/overseen by an external SLT member to ensure a transparent and open process of selection.

Essential For The Role
Essential Criteria
* Currently qualified National Firearms Instructor (or within the 3-year limit at point of employment).
* Occupationally competent in the Authorised Firearms Officer role profile as a minimum standard (or within the 3-year limit at point of employment).
* Existing Police Officer NFI's who are within 365 days of their nominated retirement date.
* Previously employed Police Officers / Staff who are within the three (3) year limit for occupational competence in both the NFI & AFO role profiles at the point of recruitment – mandated annual training requirements must be recovered upon starting P1-Trainer post.
Desirable Criteria
* Have a recognised level 4/5 teaching (CET/DET or equivalent) or full teacher training (Cert Ed.) qualification.
* PPST Instructor
* D13/ELS Instructor
* Have recognised assessor qualifications – CAVA / IQA / A1 or equivalent
