The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on role that involves both high-level technical work and mentoring junior colleagues. You'll act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, manage infrastructure projects, and work closely with clients to design and implement robust IT solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems under pressure, and wants the variety of both office-based and onsite work.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as an escalation point for 1st/2nd line engineers and helpdesk queries.
* Provide 3rd line support for servers, networks, cloud platforms, and business-critical systems.
* Deliver Microsoft 365, laptop/desktop, and general IT support when required.
* Plan and deliver IT infrastructure projects, such as:

o Server and network installations/upgrades

o Cloud migrations (Microsoft 365)
*
o Security solutions (firewalls, MFA, endpoint protection)
* Proactively monitor, maintain, and optimise client systems using RMM tools.
* Provide on-site support for clients, including installations, troubleshooting, and emergency call-outs.
* Maintain clear documentation of fixes, processes, and configurations.
* Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
* Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide strategic technical guidance.
* Contribute to improving internal processes and suggesting new technologies.
Skills & Requirements
Technical skills & experience:
* 3+ years working in an IT support environment.
* Strong experience with Windows Servers (builds, migrations, troubleshooting).
* Proven track record in delivering IT infrastructure projects.
* Solid networking knowledge (VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches, wireless).
* Virtualisation experience (VMWare, Hyper-V).
* Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint administration).
* Experience with laptops, desktops, and printer troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with business apps such as Sage and other third-party software.

* Natural mentor with a willingness to support and guide junior colleagues.
* Calm under pressure, with the ability to deliver in fast-paced environments.
* Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical users.
