At Hill, our Buying Team plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective developments. As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll support procurement across a range of residential projects—helping make sure the right materials are in the right place, at the right time, for the right value.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role with lots of variety. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to manage orders, resolve queries, and support project schedules. In return, we’ll support you to develop your commercial knowledge, systems confidence, and supply chain expertise.
What you’ll do:
Support the procurement of plant and materials for residential developments
Help issue accurate purchase orders and enquiries using our internal systems
Track requisitions against buying schedules and report delays or issues
Liaise with suppliers and maintain positive working relationships
Work with Commercial, Technical, Accounts and Production teams to align procurement activity with programme needs
Assist with budget reviews, cost comparisons, and procurement reports
Help maintain procurement data, compliance checks and invoice reconciliation
Contribute to new procurement initiatives, including bulk buying and supply chain engagement
What we’re looking for:
A qualification in procurement, construction, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Good Excel skills and confidence using procurement platforms
Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues
Commercial awareness and the ability to prioritise under pressure
A team player with a willingness to learn and grow
