The Parks and Green Spaces team plays a key role in delivering safe, attractive, and well-kept outdoor areas for the community. We are seeking committed individuals who want to help keep the City’s green spaces thriving.
As a Parks and Sports Grounds Operative, the successful applicant will carry out grounds maintenance and horticultural tasks, prepare and maintain sports pitches, and assist with light caretaking duties such as pavilion cleaning and liaising with park users. The role involves working across various locations in Chelmsford, with a 37-hour week from Thursday to Monday, including some evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
The ideal applicant will require a full driving licence. Experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, and operating machinery is desirable, along with relevant qualifications. The applicant must be able to work independently and as part of a team, be enthusiastic about outdoor work, and ready to work in all weather conditions.
