Job description

Aspire People are looking to appoint a confident HLTA to join a highly regarded Ofsted-rated Outstanding specialist school that caters for pupils aged 6 to 19 years with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Many pupils also experience sensory processing needs and high levels of anxiety, requiring a nurturing, structured, and highly personalised approach to education.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled HLTA to join this incredible team, delivering learning activities to small groups of KS2 and KS3 pupils. This is a highly rewarding role where you will be central to supporting pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role:

1. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and leadership team
2. Adapt lesson materials to meet individual learning styles, sensory needs, and communication preferences
3. Support pupils in regulating their emotions, using de-escalation techniques and sensory regulation strategies as needed
4. Implement strategies to reduce pupils' anxiety and encourage positive engagement with learning
5. Lead small group sessions and interventions focused on core subjects and personal development
6. Track and monitor pupil progress, contributing to assessment and reporting where required
7. Assist with creating and maintaining a structured, safe, and positive learning environment tailored to pupils' sensory and emotional needs

To be considered for this role, you must:

* Hold a PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
* Have experience supporting or teaching pupils with ASC and associated sensory/anxiety needs
* Be confident managing behaviour and using positive behaviour support strategies
* Demonstrate an empathetic, calm, and resilient approach to challenges
* Be committed to creating inclusive learning experiences that meet the needs of all learners
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

In return, we offer:

* A rewarding opportunity to work within a truly inspiring and supportive setting
* Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
* Competitive rates of pay
* Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement

If you are passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people with ASC and want to work in an Outstanding environment, we would love to hear from you.
