With a new leadership team in place, we are investing in our services to transform how they are delivered. We are continuously developing and expanding the range of support, care and treatment offered to people across North Wales, including establishing new roles in community and inpatient teams and providing a clear career progression path.
We are looking to appoint a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry based in Ty Llewelyn Mental Health Unit, Bangor, as part of our growth strategy. This is a replacement post as part of the continuing development of forensic services to offer sustainable specialist services for the population of North Wales.
Responsibilities
 * Take overall responsibility for the psychiatric care of an inpatient population within the medium secure services.
 * Provide medical leadership and undertake assessment and management for inpatients and the wider forensic service locally, including prisons and the community forensic mental health team, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Eligibility — Essential
 * Full GMC Specialist Registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCT from date of interview
 * 12/2 Approval AC Approval (or eligible for approval)
 * MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
 * Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
 * Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Desirable
 * Forensic CCT
 * Postgraduate qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
 * Welsh AC Approval
Skills
 * Evidence of training in core and specialist competencies relevant for forensic psychiatry
 * General medical skills
 * Experience in leading a multidisciplinary team
 * Demonstrate leadership, and the ability to work under pressure
 * Demonstrate good communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal)
Desirable
 * Evidence of ability to develop and utilise links with service users
 * Evidence of ability to build working relationships with colleagues
Teaching and Training
 * Evidence of delivering postgraduate and multidisciplinary teaching
