LTO EA Level B – Extended Day Before School – 5 hrs/wk Tait Street
This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply if it conflicts with their current LTO. All Long Term Occasional assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2-weeks notice.
Qualifications/Requirements
A condition of employment as an EA/CYW with the Waterloo Region District School Board requires passing a Physical Demands test. All job offers are conditional on passing all components of this test. This applies to any EA/CYW that does not already have Permanent/LTO level D hours.
Educational Assistant Qualifications
* Certified Teachers
* Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution
* Developmental Service Worker (DSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
* Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
* Social Services Diploma (SSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
Alternative EA Qualifications with Experience
* Post-secondary degree in Sociology with at least one (1) year (1,224 hours) of related work experience supporting special needs children, or significant relevant volunteer experience
* Minimum six (6) month diploma/certificate in a child-related discipline with similar experience
* Post-secondary degree/diploma supporting special needs children with relevant experience
Assets
* Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification
* Experience working with students with special needs and behavioral disabilities
* Autism Spectrum Disorder Training
* Lifting/Positioning Training
Additional Requirements
Employees working in licensed child care programs must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check every five years and complete annual offence declarations. Educators in Before and After School Programs need to submit a VSC request. Valid First Aid and CPR certification or registration to update training within the year are required.
