Offer description

We are looking for two part-time Care Navigators/Receptionists to join our busy and friendly team to provide high-quality service to patients, doctors, and other members of the Primary Healthcare Team. Working 25 to 30 hours per week across our sites at Hessle, Brough, and South Cave, with cover potentially required at Bubwith and Holme on Spalding Moor.

The candidates should have experience in delivering excellent reception support, maintaining professionalism and discretion at all times, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential, along with flexibility to cover for annual/sick leave. Knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage.

You will have experience working with the public, possess a cheerful and polite manner, be able to multi-task, and be a good team player. Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times, both inside and outside the Practice, is crucial.

Main duties of the job

You need to be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, especially under pressure. Your role will involve a range of patient-facing and administrative tasks, requiring excellent organisational skills and time management. A caring, empathetic character is essential.

Your duties will include answering telephone calls, registering patients, and general admin tasks within the Practice. A 'can do' attitude and flexibility to cover shifts when required are important.

We are a large, forward-thinking Practice with 47,500 patients across five main sites: Brough, South Cave, Hessle, Holme Upon Spalding Moor, and Bubwith. Each site has unique characteristics and serves a diverse patient demographic, including rural East Yorkshire and commuting areas for Hull, Leeds, and York, with easy access via A63/M62.

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change easily. You will need a strong work ethic, the ability to work under pressure and independently, with support from senior colleagues. Job responsibilities

* Greet patients and visitors to the Practice.
* Book in patients and visitors according to Practice procedures.
* Respond to and redirect patient and visitor requests, passing unresolved or urgent matters to colleagues at the end of your shift.
* Open incoming mail and distribute as per protocol.
* Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments.
* Record patient information onto the clinical system.
* Maintain a comfortable waiting room environment and tidy after each surgery.
* Answer incoming calls, document and redirect as needed.
* Care Navigate all patients, referring to outside providers when necessary.
* Book appointments using the Improving Access System.
* Provide holiday and sickness cover as needed.
* Maintain both computerized and manual filing systems.
* Handle ring tasks sent by clinicians via the flagged system.
* Hand out prescriptions when the Dispensary is closed.
* Make tea/coffee for colleagues, doctors, and visitors as required.
* Work safely following legislative requirements and Practice policies.


Administration Duties

* Keep registrations, new patient questionnaires, and deductions up to date.
* Perform any other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

* Good standard of general education.


Skills

* Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
* Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
* Negotiation and conflict management skills.
* Interpersonal skills.


Knowledge

* Understanding of a General Practice Reception environment.


Experience

* Experience working with others and using own initiative.
* Experience in customer service and within a General Practice Reception environment.
* Practical experience with computerized recording systems.

Salary: £12.21 to £12.30 per hour, starting at £12.21 with annual increments to £12.30.
